I agree that picking ONE SIDE to support, and ONE SIDE to fight would probably represent better tactics then our current muddled 'strategy' of standing in the middle of the civil war, ineffectually shifting back and forth and not materially affecting the end game.

(That seems to be about the *worst* of possible options for our involvement.)
