Personally I'm more likely to get upset at someone actually doing something to me or imposing some control on me, than I am by people living their own lives, even if they are vacuous or vulgar. If you think that you are unaffected by the economic class structure in this country, I've got news for you. The wealthy usually get the best education, the best medical care, the best of everything. If you don't think that makes a difference in one's life, you are naive.
