I have tried in as many ways as possible to demonstrate that I do recognize the corrupt and heinous conduct that is perpetrated by Muslims in this day in age, and in other times. The is true for some I have met personally and those foreigners we all hear about. I don't consider that in anyway a reflection on the religion of Islam, merely my observations on some despicable human behavior. Posters at this thread do not have to assume anything. I certainly would not, so I don't expect anyone else to. Personally, I accept scripture because at the very start it tells us that Man was sent to the Earth from Eden with the enmity of one to another where fight or flight is the rule, with a choice to follow a more difficult path, one that goes on and on while the traveler is constantly tested. Whether that is an allegorical or literal description of things does not concern me at all. Some people say that God may be revealed from the veiled illusions of the created world. So when a scientist makes a discovery, has God been revealed? I would answer yes. People say that the truth is what we find when we remove concealment to find what lie beneath the surface. People say they find truth in studying their religions. All religions seem to agree that men are corruptible, tending toward greed, lasciviousness, and injustice to acquire things of the world. Religions seem to agree that men are generally in a state of enmity with one unto another. Religions also say that man’s most beneficial path is one of charity, kindness, consideration, and an attitude of well being from one unto another. I think those comments in religion are true. Sure, and all these things should seem to old men to be common sense based on our observations over a life time."Or, are we all just asking islam to prove it? Proving religion, however, is quite another thing altogether. Faith almost by definition is that disparity between what can be proven and that which we accept according to our natural condition as self evident. Here is one article where the author makes claims for a peaceful Islam and uses some of the usual substantive claims to justify it. I don't think it proves anything to people not already convinced but it is a graceful and eloquent presentation. time.com
