Millions of Japanese and Koreans did not survive either.

This study estimates that the Japanese killed about 6 million Koreans, Chinese, Fillipino, etc, civilians via forced labor and killing POWs. This does not count battle casualties.

I think the thing that has really sealed the "difference" of Nazi Germany is not the number of millions dead - after all, Stalin and Mao both have way higher totals - but that it was Germany, one of the most cultured nations in Europe, that could revert to this bloody neo-paganism and industrialize death in this fashion. Even in 1939, I don't think anyone would have thought it possible.

Again, I think this a view that was not held at the time, but decided on afterwards in the light of history.
