So Cheney just had to out Plame, right? That's the only possible thing he could do. The NYT publishes a ton of op-ed stuff, and Wilson's column would have been forgotten as quickly as all the other stuff that shows up on the op-ed page if they'd just ignored it. What the heck, W had already accomplished his mission of getting the war of his heart's desire. Maybe, just maybe, if all the administration hotheads who just had to have an Iraq war had been paying more attention to what was going on in Iraq in the summer of 2003 than they were to NYT op-ed pieces, things might be in better shape now. Not likely, I doubt if anything less than years of reality there could have disabused the neocons of their gloating triumphalism and prewar fantasies, but it would have been a lot easier to fix things then than now.

I still am hopeful that we will eventually see the expense account Wilson submitted to the CIA for his travel expenses to have tea in Niger....forget about the yellowcake. Saddam didn't need it, Wilson said. Maybe Wilson was there to buy peas for the US. But seriously, we NEVER have seen his report to the CIA that states whate he gound on his lettle junket to Niger. Nor have we seen WHO SIGNED HIS EXPENSE REPORT! His wife couldn't sign it, could she? So who did? We haven't seen the Leaker punished...Armitage. Which was what the Special Prosecutor was supposed to do... Wonder if we taxpayers will EVER know how much this entire circus cost? Ditto the Berger mess.....He certainly did more than Libby by miles....and got a slap on the wrist.
