To be completely serious, utterly humor-challenged, lacking in all levity, and otherwise completely PC, my point is that some Muslims are so completely obsessed with being treated with 'dignity' that they cannot accept the fact that satire and sarcasm have a long history in Western culture.

Sarcasm and satire are non-violent, meaningful ways of getting points across. They are utterly unlike the head hacking and murdering that took place after the Danish cartoon fiasco.

My reaction is this: F*** them if they can't take a joke. The minute we, like the college administrators who condemned the rubber duckie incident, start to muzzle our cultural and legal prerogatives of free speech, is the minute that we have started to surrender to a set of values that has absolutely nothing to do with who we are.

My opinion is that we need lots more of these incidents, that a non-violent campaign of humor and sarcasm will do wonders to imbue easily-offended Muslims with the notion that we are who we are, and don't plan to change to suit their delicate sensibilities. If they want to live in the US, they'd better get used to the idea that their dress seems funny to us, that we don't like the way they treat women, that we believe jihad sucks, and that, instead of killing them, we, unlike their co-religionaries, will only laugh at them. We will make progress when they start laughing with us, and start their own humor campaign, as unlikely as that might be. I suspect it will be a long time before we see a Muslim Robin Williams, they are too aggrieved and delicate.
