Same as Israelis declaring that a multi-cultural, multi-religious region is now a "Jewish homeland" is the cause, and the subsequent hostility from non-Jews in the region is the effect. That's like saying if you bump a guy in the street, and he, being a paranoid schizophrenic, concocts an elaborate scheme in his head about how the bump was the secret signal to id him for an assassination attempt, that your bump was the "cause" and the paranoid reaction was the "effect." It may be true, but it's hardly the norm for many other similar cases, or anything that anyone could have expected unless they knew they were dealing with a paranoid schizophrenic. Seriously, how were the Zionists in 1920 or 1940 to know that the Arab world would select them as its central obsession and prefer to cripple themselves rather than adjust to reality like other people?
