The Beltway always buzzes when fresh meat is thrown out for the herd to jump on. Libby will only be important as far as it shows the rot in the VP's office as the Iraq debacle deepened.

Libby's appeals will drag on until late 2008, he won't be ordered to report to prison until spring 2009, Bush will pardon him before he turns out the lights and that's that.

The rest of the campaign should focus on the more important issues.
