Media Comparison: Gore Aide's 2000 Conviction Barely Reported

Media Research Center

As the network TV onslaught on the Scooter Libby conviction continues, remember that on March 2, 2000, an aide to the Vice President was convicted of illegal funneling foreign money to Democrats, crimes that benefited the 1996 Clinton-Gore re-election campaign. Her name was Maria Hsia (pronounced like Shaw). Vice President Gore at that time was the all-but-certain Democratic nominee for President.

Coverage was minimal. ABC gave it 19 seconds and CBS gave it 23 seconds. On NBC, Tom Brokaw skipped it.

A few days later on the Imus in the Morning show, Brokaw had this telling exchange on Gore:

Imus: "He acted like he barely knew that this Maria Hsia, didn't he? Like he was ready to drag her up out of a park someplace."

Brokaw agreed: "Oh, I know, yeah, it was: 'Did I miss that?' It was as if he were saying, 'Did she get convicted?' He said, 'It's still in the courts.' It's no longer in the courts! The jury has ruled! Guilty! Five counts!

Imus shot back: "Well, if he's watching NBC News he missed it."

Brokaw conceded: "Yeah, well that's true."

Imus: "And he only saw 19 seconds of it with Dan [Rather]."

Brokaw: "Yeah, I know."

These Are All Lies

Posted by Mark Noonan
Blogs for Bush

Everything I'm quoting here is a demonstrable lie:

<<< The Nation: ...the determination of the administration to punish critics of the manipulation of intelligence to make the "case" for invading and occupying Iraq... >>>

<<< Amnesty International: The struggle against torture and ill-treatment by agents of the state requires absolute commitment and constant vigilance. It requires stringent adherence to safeguards. It demands a policy of zero tolerance. The US government has manifestly failed in this regard. >>>

<<< World Economic Forum: Eason Jordan asserted that he knew of 12 journalists who had not only been killed by US troops in Iraq, but they had in fact been targeted. >>>

<<< MSNBC: The U.S. Army recruited more than 2,600 soldiers under new lower aptitude standards this year, helping the service beat its goal of 80,000 recruits in the throes of an unpopular war and mounting casualties. >>>

<<< Chris Matthews (no link): ...it was a very aggressive campaign to connect 9/11 to Iraq. >>>

<<< Infowars: The sole reason our troops are still embroiled in the turmoil is because of WMD. >>>

And I could go on and on and on - demonstrable lie after demonstrable lie, all of them believed with intensity on the left. What are we to do? Well, we're going to have to understand that we won't get a fair shake from the left and the institutions it controls (MSM, education, Democratic Party). They will simply lie as much as they think they need to get their way. What we have to do is expose the lies, but also defend ourselves against them.

We're up against it, make no mistake about it - the truth will win, but it has to be fought for, so get ready for two years of the most intense political battles you've ever seen.
