when did you limit your claim to the New Testament? Only because it concerns the Gospel and how it was promoted in the world. There was no armed warfare involved in that. I don’t think throwing out the Old Testament was the intent of the Gospel. I agree. Yet as Paul teaches, the Gentiles were not to become Jews first nor were we to live by the over 600 tenets of the Mosaic law. And, we are not numbered as was Israel as men of arms. Anyway, since when was protecting one's self and family considered vengeance? It's not. Further, sitting back and being slaughtered, might be portrayed as a form of suicide thru passive complicity. I didn't say one should sit back and be passively complicit to martyrdom. I thought I covered this in the post you're responding to.
