Steam engines in NZ too. Here's one. rcd.typepad.com Another goes nearby our place on occasion.

I must be showing my age because I remember steam engines when they meant business. It was great when the steam and smoke came zooming through the wooden bridge going to Otahuhu from Mangere when a train went under.

They still seem like real trains to me.
