The 5 Lies of Joe Wilson:

Lie number 1: Wilson puffs himself to an unrecognizable extent. He was not even the ambassador, as he implies, and had zero experience investigating WMDS. He was unqualified to do more than sip tea with Niger officials. He denied absolutely that his wife got him the gig, which it turned out later, she did.

Lie number 2: He found nothing. In his debriefing, he related that the former Prime Minister had told him that Iraqi officials had come around looking to enhance trade, and the former Prime Minister concluded that Iraq wanted to buy more yellowcake, as it had before. After all, Niger export nothing else besides cowpeas. This salient finding is omitted from the op-ed.

Lie number 3: his report was routine. If it had been, it would have been in written form and the CIA would have told him to keep quiet about it. Instead, it was oral and the CIA blessed his telling everybody about it in the NYT, an action which certainly would have blown his wife's cover, had she actually been covert. Nothing standard about this.

Lie number 4: he had gone to Africa at VP Cheney's request and Cheney knew he had gone there because it's "standard operating procedure". Nothing about Wilson's trip was standard operating procedure. In fact, the way Cheney hit the ceiling when he read Wilson's op-ed is supporting evidence for the fact that the entire operation was a nasty surprise planned by the CIA for the VP.

Lie number 5: Because he, Joe Wilson, was so super qualified and could list an impressive list of official sounding difficulties for exporting yellowcake, his trip proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that no yellowcake had been purchased or even was attempted to be purchased, a distinction which he purposely blurs. Note how in the beginning of the op-ed he says he doesn't believe the transaction actually took place, then later uses this as proof positive that no transaction was ever attempted, despite the evidence to the contrary which he collected from the Niger PM.

We can look forward to the Wilson's civil suit.

I hope the preparations are going well especially as they now have more evidence from the Scooter trial to work with.

The power of the government should never descend on private citizens like this for political profit...it's outrageous and should never be allowed.
