It was not until I was able to ski multiple times per year that I ever was able to survive the moguls. It has been fifteen years since I have skied, and am optimistic that I have not forgotten how to carve. It was fun to be able to ski on any slope without feeling like I was ruining the slope for those who belonged on it.

I never want to stand beneath a mogul twice as high as myself and ask if I can survive the rest of the run, again. I remember giving up on hiking out and just settling for falling less painfully the rest of the way down the run. I don't recall ever hiking down even when I was on a black diamond when the tough blues were difficult for me at the time.

I was never a great skier, but I got to where I could survive and enjoy double diamonds. While the kids are in ski school, I will try my hand at a single diamond and use the results of that to determine the next run. After hurting myself a few times, playing camera dad might seem pleasant.
