Well, I'm sure you agree its not really a good idea to let a Jewish person instruct us on the teachings of Islam's scriptures. It's about as useful as listening to Emile instruct us on the Babylonian Talmud, whatever that is.

It all comes down to the separation of Church and State. When the state ruler is the ruler of Saudi Arabia, and Muslim ruler is the chief cleric in Saudi Arabia, the ruler of Saudi Arabia makes the laws, and the Chief cleric can command all he wants in his pulpit, but he has no enforcement mechanism. At the moment the two are too entertwined with the "religious police", and thus the problems.
