To think that Gore increasing a tax in the US would decrease Chinese and Indian demand is not realistic.

Al Gore would have piled on more middle class taxes. If nothing else he would have tried to levy the Kyoto tax which some estimates put at a 30% drag on the economy. That would be the biggest middle class tax hike since WWII. The economy is much better off without him.
