This says it all from your post:
Why did I become a conservative? Just look at what I
left, and look at who is attacking me to today? Let's face
it people, you're all cynical enough to know that if I had
espoused liberal causes, spoken out against the military,
got a liberal award for courage and then outed with a porn
-past, you'd be clamoring for my memoir, and nominating me
for a diversity ticket with Barack Obama. Instead those
who complain about wire-tapping reserve the right to
eavesdrop on my private life for political brownie points.
.... I am embarrassed to say, I thought my fellow
conservative friends would distance themselves when this
news came out, and I'm touched that the opposite has
happened.

I hadn't heard about the Sanchez brouhaha.

Geez.

Teddy Kennedy kills a woman and the left still licks his boots.

Barney Frank's live in male prostitute runs a brothel out of his townhouse, but hey, that's just good ole Barney.

Gerry Studds admits to an affair with a male 17 year old page
and receives a slap on the wrist from the House. No rehab for him.

Ann Coulter utters the *F* word and is maligned all over the place, including the leftist hangouts on SI, as though she
had advocated euthanasia of homosexuals. There was even a calculated assault on her website to shut her down.

Clinton lies directly to the American people saying that he
*never had sex with that woman*, but more critically lies about it under oath, but hey, that doesn't *count* as perjury, it's about sex and everybody lies about that, right?

Libby lies about where and how he got Plame's name. (Disclosure of Plame's name was not a crime, or someone would have been tried by now.) According to people like John Kerry, who even did a brief stint as a prosecutor, :

“This verdict brings accountability at last for official deception and the politics of smear and fear,” Kerry said. “This trial revealed a no-holds barred White House attack machine aimed at anyone who stood in the way of their march to war with Iraq. It is time for President Bush to live up to his own promises and hold accountable anyone else who participated in this smear. It is also well past time for Vice President Cheney, who according to the testimony was protected by Scooter Libby’s lies, to finally acknowledge his role in this sordid episode.

“I also want to thank the jury and the prosecutor for their hard work in this case.”
blog.thedemocraticdaily.com

It does no such thing and Kerry knows it.

These are just a handful of examples.
The left has taken its cue from the Clintons and predictably follows this pattern:

1.If accused, deny, confront, challenge, and never admit
2. Destroy the accuser

Lather, rinse, repeat.

The so-called Progressives, imo, are the very antithesis of the freedoms they claim to cherish.

You only have free speech in their book if you articulate the right speech.

Sanchez stood for the wrong principles. He's a Marine seeking
support for the military at Columbia University. But, looky here, had a sordid past in gay porn some 15 years ago, so that can be used to undercut his message.

Geez.
He shoulda run for Congress where a *colorful* past seems to
be the key to political success....at least on the left.
