Most good Christians are liberals or moderates. Let me explain why. A "good christian" is one who follows Christ's teachings. Who walks the walk, doesn't just throw around Christ's name a lot and cast accusations at others. Christ would also not approve of churches turned into political partisan operations.

These are the principal teachings of Christ and tell me if the rightwing Christians follow any of them.

- Love thy neighbor as thyself (the rightwing is very intolerant and often hateful of those who are even slightly different from themselves)

- Forgiveness, turning the other cheek (The rightwing is much more likely to be calling for revenge, death or war)

- Christ clearly said those who hoard wealth are evil and cannot get to heaven. (Modern rightwing Christianity promotes materialism, greed, money lust and supports corrupt politicians and corporate gougers.)

- Blessed are the peacemakers (the rightwing want wars against nations that never even attacked us, and cheer on bloody quagmires)

I would also add that being a good shepherd can mean being a wise and loving steward of nature and the environment, for man is only one of God's miraculous creations, if you believe in a deity which "created" everything. And without nature we all die anyway, because we are part of nature.
