You don't HAVE to join a militia, it is an individual right.

And I wouldn't recommend starting your own private religion either, lest the gov't show up and kill you and all of your followers by burning them alive, or assasinating your wife while she is holding her baby.

I read the whole opinion of DC Appeals Court. It simply BLOWS away the deceipt of the collective rights theorty about the 2nd amendment. Your fears are completely unfounded as the handgun ban in DC has consistently made DC close to the top of the murder capitol of the U.S. since 1976.
