I did a lot more than attend Catholic school. And I am very well acquainted with the New Testament. In fact I brush up every so often, partly just to prove to myself how wrong and un-christian the rightwing is.

I forgot a huge one, Christ's said GIVE TO THE POOR, not just a tax writeoff here and there or even a tith, but GIVE IT ALL TO THE POOR. He said that's the way to salvation. Now, how much money to people like Bush-Cheney give to the poor? Almost nothing. How many rightwing policies benefit the poor? Zero. They all benefit the already-rich. And materialism evangelical theology often shafts the needy in favor or rewarding church elders with Cadillacs, Mercedes, mansions etc.

In short, Jesus Christ was like an idealistic communist. Share and share alike. Nobody goes hungry. Nobody hoards any wealth. etc. That's exactly what the elitist rightwingers are against.

It's like Bushies saying they support the troops while shafting their health care. It's hypocrisy. And it's taking the Lord's name in Vain. The rightwing does a lot of that. Newt Gingrich's interview yesterday talking about Jesus etc. was ridiculous. He's a cold-blooded politician trying to get around the fact he was cheating on his wife while he hypocritically demonized CLinton for the same thing.
