What happened in Jenin: a battle in the center of town, which had been turned into one large booby-trap. Net result: 23 dead Israelis, 53 or 54 dead Palestinians.

What was reported in Jenin: the entire town destroyed by Israel, who massacred 5000 helpless civilians and took them away in refrigerated trucks. Why was this reported? Because that's what the Pal spokesmen said happened. The town itself was closed off due to fighting at the time.

After some inflammatory and unhelpful comments from Jan Egeland, the final UN report confirmed what actually happened.

Meanwhile the reports of the massacre had travelled the world, thanks to the BBC, Reuters, et. al. who had credulously repeated the Palestinian charges. They always do.
