<humor> you're here like the rest of us, so we can be uninvitingly trolled, pestered and annoyed by Doug in his born again true-blue form ;-). Hell, he did it for years against Intel posters it's now AMD SI's turn as it's only fair that we all share the misfortune ;-) </humor>

Seriously though, just put him on ignore as he really isn't worth
it as the rest of us sure do appreciate your unique insightful contributions into design and process. I know, I know, I argue with him but that's just for sport and a laugh ;-). Anyway see you in 2 days for speaking my mind as that and a sense of humor are now banned here under the new regime of the strict humorless gruppenfuehrer ;-).

Hans,

I don't think that Intel has ever abandoned the top $900 odd price points. Instead they have always cascaded the prices down when they had new top end parts to replace them. Whether it's Penryn or 3.4GHz 65nm parts, something with higher performance will hit volume in Q3.

Hi Hans,

Anandtech recently provided a laundry list of improvements that are being made in Barcelona. Have you had a chance to try to estimate what the summed effect of those changes would be in terms of IPC? 5%? 10%? 20%?
anandtech.com

A lot of us would be very interested in your estimate.

Your early analysis of the K7 architecture was an absolute classic that many of us remember and continue to reference.

Regards,

Dan

I don't think desktop 45nm parts are likely to be widely available in Q3. I think it is likely that 45nm server parts will be widely available in Q4, and probably launched in late Q3. It also sounds like 45nm mobile parts may be available in Q3.

It's really not all that shocking given what we know about the state of 45nm in early January.
