Isn't the fact that he worked with some of the witnesses and knew others grounds for appeal, unless he made a statement to that effect before the trial? I don't think he could have been a juror in Canada, because if he knew socially or through work people involved in the trial he would have preconceived notions of the character of the witnesses and would prejudice the jury.
