Carolyn and Thread, Roundabouts? We tried them here at a few intersections. Best ask the fire and police departments and rescue ambulance people what THEY thought of them. Not printable on this family thread. The taxi and bus drivers hated 'em too. Add to that the pleasure of a snowfall or two which completely obliterated the roundabouts. That's when the fun and games really stopped and the city finally ripped them out.

There was also the unintended consequence that businesses on the streets with roundabouts suffered mightily because people avoided driving on those streets.

Unfortunately, the city seems to have short-term memory problems, and I hear the roundabouts are due to make an encore appearance. - Holly
