The only thing Rich puts forward is promulgating the Iraq war policy, "tarted up" (to borrow a phrase) in the most sinister possible light. Well Cheney did promulgate the Iraq War policy. But that was a policy that the administration was legally entitled to promulgate however little Mr. Rich likes it. Was Lyndon Johnson "legally entitled" to fabricate Gulf of Tonkin attacks? Yeah, I know, we disagree about the lead up to this war. If Libby does in fact serve jail time, he may be disposed to write yet another political memoir, one that might sit on the shelf beside David Stockman's The Triumph of Politics. I doubt many Bush admin higher ups would like it. What Mr. Libby did -- fabricating nuclear threats at WHIG and then lying under oath when he feared that sordid Pandora's box might be pried open by the Wilson case -- was despicable. Had there been no WHIG or other White House operation for drumming up fictional rationales for war, there would have been no bogus uranium from Africa in a presidential speech, no leak to commit perjury about, no amputees to shut away in filthy rooms at Walter Reed.

"Libbey is supposed to have committed perjury to save Cheney being exposed for...WHAT? " First Nadine, the man's name is LIBBY. And as for WHAT? Libby was Cheney's fixer! For every dollar Cheney has arranged for a crony contractor (which probably runs into the hundreds of billions). For who was in the Energy Task force, what was discussed, and why they had a map of Iraq's oil regions at the meeting. For every slimy thing the secretive Cheney has done from his "undisclosed locations"! Cheney's first act was probably to tell Scooter to make it so..
