Nothing can take the place or taste of real butter.
If a recipe calls for butter, use it, or change the taste entirely.
If I ever gave out a recipe especially before the margarine/butter war erupted, I always emphasised that margarine should not be substituted for butter. You may be able to substitute white wines but not butter.
