Lebanon was in a civil war. You think it could afford to start a war with Israel? I didn't say it did start a war with Israel. The PLO did. The Lebanese government couldn't and/or wouldn't stop the PLO. That justified Israel's intervention. Of course, it was not justified. We provide amnesty to political refugees all the time. If any of the originating countries try to invade us because we we were protecting their refugees, we would be fighting wars all the time. National soveignty is of paramount importance and to be respected at all costs........at least, that's what the GOP tells us. Instead, the Israelis act like dysfunctional and pushy relatives who invade other countries at the drop of a hat. It infuriates me that the GOP is very protective of US sovereignty but ignores the sovereignty of other nations.
