It's hard for me to imagine drunkenness to be as innocuous as that but I agree otherwise.

Not suggesting that it's innocuous. Parents do lots of things that introduce risk. Drinking is one of them.

But the issue was one of criteria for removing children from the home. I was trying to isolate the salient variable. Drinking ain't it. A drinking parent, in and of itself, doesn't endanger a child. When you're discussing standards, it's critical to differentiate between endangerment behavior and potential contributing factors. If we took kids away for potential contributing factors, legal or illegal, there'd be more kids in the system than with their families.
