Our alliance with the Saudis is also one of AQ's major beefs. And considering Wahabbism, shouldn't we be trying to broaden our business interests away from SA??? We're going to be dependent on foreign oil for a long time unless insufferable conservation measures are legislated.

Also Iran and Libya are two oil-rich countries that at least are trying to build more diversified economies for their people going forward. We could be part of that and build good will in the process.

The Saudis would rather bring in foreign workers.

He also endorsed divestment from Iran, an effort he noted Jewish communities and others are spearheading in 10 US states.

Opposition leader Binyamin Netanyahu, who spoke at a closed session later in the day, also called for divestment. He noted that many Americans unwittingly aid the Iranian economy by investing in companies that do business with Iran.

"By insisting that their investment dollars not be used in Iran, the American public can send a powerful and effective message," he said. "For the regime in Teheran, the blow of divestment could prove fatal."

Carranza, this is from an article in today's Jerusalem Post and is typical of what I was trying to say.
Please note what Jewish communities in ten US states are trying to do.

This is an example of what angers me about Israel....this meddling, this sense of entitlement. Iran poses a problem to ISRAEL not the US!!

As a non-Jewish American I resent it when Israel tries to insinuate itself into our business policies and force decision making that may not be in our economic self-interest.

how about the IRA - no muslims there, right ? Even today you can go to an Irish pub in New England, order a drink and say "one for the cause". you pay for 2, and drink one.
