AQ doesn't get to destroy Israel. Then their grievance remains, as potent as ever as a recruiting tool. So what have you accomplished? The Saudi's need to take care of their Wahabbi influence problem. Until they do, we should be putting some distance between ourselves and the Saudis. It's crazy that we are helping the Saudis 'help' build and sustain AQ. Agreed. But we need the oil. Even if we didn't need the oil, the rest of the world would. If we want the global economy to function, the oil must flow. Since there have been no more attacks, perhaps the Saudis have at least figured out how to protect their business interests....just as we figured out how to protect our embassies and federal bldgs. Perhaps. Though the usual methods of the Saudi mukhabarat (secret police) do not really bear inspection from a human rights angle. Which may have some future blowback for the regime.

AQ is such a frightening thing that Bush admits he doesn't even think much about OBL. If the Prez isn't going to worry about it, why should we? As Bush said, we're already doing our part by having to sacrifice our peace of mind seeing nightly images of the carnage in Iraq. Why should we also have to worry about AQ when he doesn't? How many people in AQ? Maybe 40K maybe 20K maybe 100K? How many people in the world who are not and will never be AQ? Maybe 6.5 billion? It's like the gnat taking over the elephant's life. The elephant should just get on with life....isn't that Bush's message? Aren't we supposed to listen to the President of the USA? Rightwingers are so confused.
