The French denied Reagan air permission when he sent fighters to take out Kaddhafi. In truth, they have not been a good ally to the US since WW2.

My premise was that the French thought going into iraq was a bad idea, and they were right.


No the French had Billions of dollars invested in iraq, and didn't want the local Mass Murderer deposed in case they lost some of it.

How about the notion that France is just contrary to whatever
position the U.S. advances?

Your premise is that France was right by dint of 20/20 hindsight.

20/20 hindsight is also likely to show that France is mishandling its own internal Islam/Muslim issues....
