Global Warming is very real. Only a fool would deny that. And we just had the hottest week on record in LA. Global Warming doesn't mean that every single month or even year is hotter and hotter, in fact there is quite a bit of variation, it means the overall heating of the planet is accelerating at alarming rates, and that is absolutely true.

The only debate is by the Exxon-paid rightwing political operative/scientists who claim it has nothing to do with the fact we've burned trillions of barrels of oil in the past 40 years. That defies common sense. If you fly over the US heartland on a clear day you can see the pollution layer spreading for hundreds of miles all across the Great Plains and the Midwest. That pollution when applied globally must certainly have a major negative affect on every living thing beneath it, not to mention trapping gases and heat in the atmosphere.

As predicted the Bush economy is tanking now. I am surprised it held on this long. It was all built up on borrowing and spending, debt and more debt, from the US government down to the average consumer. The real estate boom was fueled by cash from China which kept interest rates low. While our jobs were being sent to China. The Wall Street speculators once again created a feverish casino where it seemed the markets would go up together.

But look at what happened after the Vietnam War. Recessions and pay the bills time. When the bill for Bush's trillions in deficit spending comes due, and it will soon, what do we do then?

This Iraq War boosted the economy for awhile but now comes the hangover, and it could be a long one. The saddest thing is the costly war actually helped our enemies and made us weaker. That's the real tragedy. Boy did Bush-Cheney blow it.

Now, let's look at the real picture - the global picture:

Global temps set record for warmest winter
NASA also reports that Earth has lost some aerosol 'sunscreen'

WASHINGTON - This winter was the warmest on record worldwide, the U.S. government said Thursday in the latest worrisome report focusing on changing climate.

The report comes just over a month after the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change said global warming is very likely caused by human actions and is so severe it will continue for centuries.

And a NASA study reported Thursday in the journal Science found that an important counter-balance to warming — sunlight blocked by volcanic gases, dust, pollution and other aerosol particles — appears to have weakened.
