For an all-nickel-all-the-time thread it's a simple matter to start one up ... this thread certainly does not 'overlook nickel', there has been an enormous number of posts on it, outsize to its proportion of overall minerals plays

Nobody can follow all plays in all sectors, note that many of us here have missed some great gains in uranium, for instance ... few people want to just dump all their capital into one flavour of the month, there is the future to think of - some of the nickels have had great runs recently, they may go longer yet, sure, still zincs will have their day again before long, and imho silvers and golds as well ... i'll be holding plays in all these metals, just fudging percentages back and forth, looking for some kind of reasonable balance

LC did start up a nickel thread, lots of info and links - Subject 56957

- Two things, you have already missed a lot of the run in RNG, LBE, NWI/NI and BMC and FNI. And most of us on this thread have already made a lot of money on those five guys.

Indeed I missed those ones. But we made money on others.

- But the really big money is yet to be made.

That is certainly a possibility. But there will also be money made elsewhere. I see much less risk in gold plays than in base metal plays. Maybe am wrong but I think gold starts outperforming everything starting this summer.

- Now you state the problem is that there are no nickle plays with large deposits and the smaller deposits seems fairly valued. Fairly valued based on what??

I have looked rapidly at this and may be wrong. But I calculated that their market cap is fairly high compared to the in-situ metal value of their deposits using $20 Nickel. RNG is the exception.

- Claude, that is exactly the point--there are no large sulfide nickel deposits, so what will happen is that the few good junior nickel deposits there are like: RNG, LBE, BMC, FNI, CRO, NI, CML, and MUM take on a much greater value than heretofore, as they are ALL THERE IS--that is important Claude.

I understand that. But that is one side of the equation. The other side is demand. Unlike gold, this demand for base metals can collapse if everything goes wrong. Granted, you may be right and demand could continue tight for many years. But it is not a given. I think the risk are high for a slowdown, recession or worst that may last longer than you would like.

-and they also the very few nickel stocks speculative investors can go into to invest in nickle.

That is a good point that I certainly have underestimated.

-The above mentioned nickel plays are a good cross section of the best junior nickel plays in the entire world Claude!

I take your word.
