Uranium cheap - the article compares natural uranium, with 0.7% U235, with uranium pellets which are enriched to 5-20% U235 by an expensive isotope separation process, which involves huge amounts of electricity. That electricty is equivalent to a few pounds of coal.

The difference is still far better than 20 to 1.

Also, coal used to be about $20 a ton a few years ago.

Also, nuclear plants release much less radiation than coal plants. Many coal deposites have significant Uranium and Thorium in them.

Excellent point, that's why it's so easy to believe that yellowcake will be over $200/lb in the next couple of years. Now all we have to do is weather the market corrections this summer and load up the truck in the fall with good juniors.

nuclear cheap....article excerpt..

Uranium is used in nuclear power plants in pellets. Typically a pellet of uranium weighs around 7 grams (0.24 ounces). This pellet is capable of generating as much energy as 3.5 barrels of oil, 17,000 cubic feet of natural gas, or 1,780 pounds of coal. Therefore if you compare uranium with oil in terms of energy produced, 3.5 barrels costs about $210 assuming $60 per barrel. For Uranium, it costs around $1.125 to buy 0.24 ounces of uranium at the current price of $75/lb. This is a vast difference in cost and shows how cheap uranium is at current prices.
