You where challenging my assertion that the "military industrial complex" is a smaller part of our economy than it was under Eisenhower (or any WWII or post WWII president before Bush II other than Clinton). How big the "complex" is compared to other countries is irrelevant to that point.

No, its very much the point.


You might argue its a more important point, but its irrelevant to the point that was being made. If you want to make a point you consider more important, just acknowledge its irrelevance, and explicitly change the subject to the one that you consider more important. Sort of "your right but it doesn't matter, because X is a more important issue", rather than "your wrong", when your point (even if fully accepted as true) doesn't do anything to refute what I said. You might have a solid point to make, but you mix everything up.
