Nonsense. The ME is VITAL to US national security interests....with the world's largest proven oil reserves (Saudi) and second largest (Iraq). Leaving a nutcase like Saddam atop those reserves given his aggressive behavior toward his neighbors was simply crazy, especially in light of his breach of the 91 accords ending that conflict. The free flow of oil is vital to our economy, our national security and our present way of life.

"I don't think leaving changes that any."

The concept of leaving is a myth. National borders and even oceans no longer separate cultures. The clashes and blendings have been going on for decades. They are here as much as we are there... to the point where 'over there' no longer means what it once did. We are rapidly moving to a planet where global identities are more common than identities based on regional distinctions; we are a permanently enmeshed society, which will be come even more so with the progression of time. Let's all come out into the sun and deal with it.
