"The bottom line is that "extremism" is an emotionally charged words that is primarily used to scare the public from listening to one's opposition. I bet political extremism means very different things in North Korea or China or Saudi.

I am certain it can be defined to mean different things for different people or under different circumstances. I, however, qualified my use of the term with reference to right wing extremists and left wing extremists. When the stated cause is different than the engine driving the agenda, the result is extremism of a radically corrupt nature. An extremism that is usually counter productive to solving whatever the stated problem is. Example: 'Peace' code speak for ( a willingness to let Iraq disolve into genocidal civil conflict ... to advance a socialistic agenda).
