More important, why did Bush ignore the pre 9-11 warnings, and do absolutely nothing to fight Al Qaida until after 9-11?

And why did Bush lie about seeing the first plane hit the WTC on TV? It was never televised.

"I still don't understand why they did not get him. Its hard to believe that their incompetence played a role since they specifically were not doing the searching. Was it because he was more useful to them alive? I just don't get it."

I think Bush just gave up on him out of embarrassment. He SWORE he'd get him "dead or alive" and "smoke him out of his cave", but bin Laden just continued to make him look like a trash-talking moron..

I've often thought that. Get bin Laden in '01 or '02 and you pretty much wrap up the "war on terror". How do you run an everlasting war if you already killed the enemy?
