Plate tectonics. At 10cm per year, in 1000 years that's 100 metres. In 1 million years that's 100 km. In 100 million years, that's 10,000 km, which is a long way into another latitude and longitude, enabling huge climatic differences over geologically relatively short periods. Land mass migration and changes in greenery and reflectivity are sufficient to explain all climatic changes without reference to orbital wobbles. Land by the equator makes it cold and land simultaneously at the poles for snow collection makes it really cold. Land by the poles makes it cold. Land in mid latitudes makes it equable. Meanwhile, the biosphere goes on stripping carbon from the air, depositing it in permanent graves. Earth is on a one way trip to colder, with warm periods now and then. Mqurice
