any such theory would have to do with whether AMD's new chips can be manufactured at profitable cost.

I was heavily into Compaq when it was in the ascendancy, but lost much of my profits when it declined rapidly into oblivion (Yes, I know there are still remnants of CPQ in the bowels of HPQ).

But the experience did impress on me how drastic movements can be in the tech sector.

If the claims are not exaggerated then I can't see how it would not help restore AMD's asp and profits. Why wouldn't it ?
