amd's own estimate in the december "happy hour" was that they would be $500M cash flow negative in '07.

Do you have a link to that?

that's why they need to net at least $1B from some offering very soon.

They shouldn't need to double the shares outstanding to raise $1bil.

i'm guessing it will be right after the presumed approval of outstanding share doubling

The proposal (which probably will be approved) will increase the allowed shares. It won't immediately or inevitably lead to a doubling of the shares outstanding.

My guess is another convert at not a whole lot below here. The stock is acting very sticky at $13.75 - $14 and I don't see any great rush. As long as they really have faith in Quad Core. If, however, they don't then they'd better start getting money together soon.

I'd sure like them to offer the convert to existing stockholders. The board feels to me like it's accepting a whole lot dimmer view of AMD than I have -- but then, I've been known to wear rose colored glasses wrt this stock.
