How old is your dictionary? Liberals are called "progressives" today.

"I just looked liberal up in the dictionary. Yes, I'm a liberal."

Only in the US does the word "liberal" has the connotations that it has picked up over the past few decades.

* associated with ideals of individual especially economic freedom

People called liberal or liberals in the US today are not generally associated with economic freedom. It usually isn't one of their top priorities, equality and other concerns typically come first.

I just looked liberal up in the dictionary. Yes, I'm a liberal.

liberal =
* marked by generosity
* BROAD-MINDED; especially : not bound by authoritarianism, orthodoxy, or traditional forms
* associated with ideals of individual especially economic freedom, greater individual participation in government, and constitutional, political, and administrative reforms designed to secure these objectives

Exactly. That's why early on I announced on this thread that I was proud to be a liberal. Its rather amazing how its been turned into something pretty negative. Sign of the times?
