I guess you overlooked the freedom of press clause(1st. amendment). "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." That's the fourth estates function, to let the people know. I know that it hasn't lived up to it's obligations recently so in that sense the American people don't have the right to know diddily squat.
