I'd stay downtown, but downtown Seattle hotels can be pricey.

Depending on what's in town conventionwise, you might have luck with Priceline. I've gotten 4* downtown hotels (Westin and Hotel Vintage Park) for $110 or so. The 3* hotels downtown are all decent. Used to be there were no 4* hotels other than downtown Seattle, so you got a lot of free rebids. Bellevue now has a 4*, so you can't use Bellevue as a free rebid unless you want to risk getting a room there (and then having to fight bridge traffic to get into town).
