Newt kept his mouth shut about Clinton's affair because he didn't want to be a hypocrite. ..Gingrich's affair was more disgusting as his wife was sick with cancer at the time and in the hospital. Clinton got his betrayed wife to go out in public and defend him. That was particularly disgusting. If Clinton had resigned for the good of his party, Gore would have run in 2000 as an incumbent President and would have had a better chance of winning. Since the election was close, arguably Clinton's lack of backbone threw the 2000 election to Bush.
