Hi Ten, you are missing the point.

YOu are absolutely right in that a big hullaballoo ensued, with Hollywood getting on the bandwagon. But that galvanized the entire country to get their asses in gear and do something about it.

Right now, we're all just sitting on our thumbs. We need to be galvanized again to really compete against countries like China. It's early days yet, but the writing is on the wall. How many more years of increased budget deficit, ballooning debt, and loss of jobs overseas do we want to endure before we do something about it? The longer we wait, the more pain American workers and shareholders will feel. The faster we do something about it, the less pain American workers and shareholders will ultimately feel.

re: Same doom-n-gloom predictions back in the 70's and 80's of a Japanese takeover. Hollywood even played up these fears.
