Thought you might like to read one of the emails I received today from Iraq. This writer is a close buddy and retired SF. He is on a contract right now. This message has a little color I'd not heard before.

Hi Mike,

I have been at a Radio Relay Site for almost two weeks and they have limited
internet access. I spent most of the day trying to catch up on my email. I
got in at about 2 am this morning.

It was an interesting trip. The first day out we found an eight array EFP
and had EOD come take care of it. We met a lot of people. Some friendly,
some not so friendly. We found a weapons cache but I tend to think it may
just be abandoned ordinance from the war, but still dangerous. And, we
found a local whorehouse. Did not get to visit but one of the locals told
us where it was and why we kept seeing motorcycles in the area. It seems
that the guys want to visit the whores but do not want their friends and
neighbors to see them or the local cops to catch them. It is after all
against their religion. So, many of the men get a motorcycle so they can
take the back trails and the cops cannot catch them. This one is located at
the back of an open dump where the flies come at you in swarms. I can only
imagine what the women look like. I have yet to see many good looking Iraqi
women. Most are covered but some in the desert do not always cover their
faces. They seem to age early. Everything is so dry that they tend to age
quickly.

Yesterday there was a sand storm so the medevac was red and we could not
travel. At about 9 pm we were just waiting for medevac to go green and we
received 4 -5 rounds of morter fire. It was not very close but it got our
attention.

Other than that everything is quiet. I may be going out again in a few days
to another site to work with them.

How is everything with you?

Got to go.

Heard on radio. He does use a lot of what the American people want type phrases.
