In Canada you go to Walmart and get some passport pictures. Then you go to the passport office for an afternoon and apply for your passport. Then they take your money and a couple weeks later, in theory, you go get your passport.

How does one go about getting a passport?

Generally at the USPO or County Clerk's office.

The Spokane auto licensing office will take the application as well.

If you belong to AAA, they'll take the photos for you at no charge.

One thing you need for a passport is a birth certificate from the county where you were born. The one from the hospital won't do, it has to be issued by the county.
