last time we had a capped day, the "multi-digit post-decimal accounting trade" was huge, relative to the day's volume.

mdpdat started showing at around the same time that reg sho went into effect, for the two stocks that I was watching closely at the time. or it just started to show at that time in my level II feed. it could be an actual count of shares that will not clear as there will never be an attempt to clear them?

that's my hypothesis, and I'm sticking to it..... prime brokers are actively and nakedly shorting shares to lube their underwriting business, and there is no attempt whatsoever to clear a fraction of the shares that they and their clients are shorting. moreover, I believe that friends and family of the clients adopt ride-along positions, and that only a fraction of the obvious ride-alongs are investigated by SEC.
