I 2nd your opinion on this.

Its two bad the MPAA and RIAA are powerful enough to pressure equipment creators in to including such crap in systems and components.

We'll see. I think it's a CYA on MSFT's part.

From my read of the MSFT PR BS it takes an install of OEM vista with the cable ready features on a cable ready box.

Upgrades won't do the job, but I think OEMs will if the box has the right parts....

Like the copies of the OS used to be available only to system builders...

What is there to stop one of those system builders from selling these things unbundled at a slight mark up?

We will find out soon...
