Absolutely. 60 Minutes did a piece on this hospital in Thailand if I remember correctly. It looked like a hotel which is much more relaxing than something that looks like an American hospital. In the US apparently hospitals can no longer afford many nurses while the hospital overseas had plenty of RNs. Many of the doctors were educated overseas and you could pick and choose based on their education and experience. While recuperating from your surgery at a fraction of the cost of a US operation, you can lie by the pool and get a tan. Open heart surgery and a vacation in one. American doctors keep yammering that you don't have the follow up and the standards aren't as high overseas. Considering that they kill 100-200K people every year, they shouldn't be talking. Mass General sends its radiographs overseas to save 2/3rds on the cost of reading them. If they think overseas doctors are good enough then I think they're good enough. I wonder if the AMA will try and lobby to prevent medical vacations or try to restrict after care in the US.

That's a great story. 10k for a bypass in India.......WOW ! HMO's will soon be flying us all to India for expensive procedures. They'll be chartering jets and filling them up with surgical patients.............and they will probably be clearing high profits! Have a bypass and see the Far East........all for 15k.
